A boutique place to stay in West Cork; The Hidden Haven has been designed with relaxation and comfort in mind. It is spacious, stylish, light-filled and restfully decorated, with a focus on high quality, Irish and eco products. The luxury accommodation has a large open plan kitchen, dining, living area with huge windows with far reaching views, and double doors leading outside. Whilst a spacious bedroom, with a super king size bed has wide sliding doors opening onto the stunning view and a deck, with a hot tub alongside. Adjoining, you will find a large walk in wardrobe with ample storage. This is connected to a bathroom with a huge rain shower, and a bath with a view. An undercover porch leads to a boot room area, with a heated towel rail for drying wet gear.
This is an opportunity to reconnect with nature. Tucked into a mountain cliff, The Hidden Haven sits on its’ own quiet corner of our farm, in splendid, silent isolation. The comfortable inside connects to the outside with double doors from the dining room, opening onto an outside eating area, with an egg-style BBQ. (Perfect for cooking Derry Duff Dexter steaks!) Close to the water’s edge, sits a pair of West Cork Beara chairs, with cosy blankets and cushions, positioned round a firepit. The wide bedroom sliding doors open onto a deck, extended over the lake. Alongside, on a lower deck, sits a wood fired hot tub. Especially for those brave enough to take a cold water plunge, stone steps lead into the water, for your own private wild swimming experience. A real West Cork nature stay!
Here in Ireland, we are surrounded by many different craftspeople, creating beautiful and useful objects out of natural materials such as wool, wood, metal, clay, glass and linen. They also make gorgeous products out of natural, organic ingredients. We have specifically chosen such Irish made objects and products, particularly those with strong environmental credentials, wherever possible throughout the luxury accommodation. Similarly, environmental consideration was at the forefront of every construction decision we made. Consequently, the eco building solutions and natural interior items blend comfortably with the natural surroundings outside, creating a serene, calm and beautiful setting for your romantic break.
Our farm is remote, with only a few houses visible in the far distance. As a result, there is no road noise, only the sound of birds (and occasionally Steve’s tractor!). The views are far reaching, giving a sense of space and the chance to properly breathe. Undeniably, there is a stillness, a calmness and a peace that comes from being surrounded by nature. Listen to the simple pleasures of a cuckoo call or the wind rustle through the grasses. Spot a heron stand in perfect stillness at the water’s edge or a hare lollop across the mountains. Watch the light move across the landscape or gaze as the mist rises along the valley. This is a real escape where you can disconnect from the mayhem and embrace a sense of serenity.
